Installation

 Look for this label.

Glitterock is easy and fast to install. It comes in two different bases, a grey colored nuetral base and a white colored tint base. The nuetral base is for mixing our gelled metallic topcoats into for a full metal effect as seen above. The white base is for mixing any color from white to deep colors also seen above.

                             METALLIC GLITTEROCK

Mix any of the SMOOTHROCK gelled metallic topcoats into the neutral glitterock base. One 16 ounce container of topcoat into 1 gallon of nuetral glitterock is enough to render a subtle metallic surface, however more metallic topcoat can be added to increase the intensity of the metallic appearance. Once the metallic has been mixed you can begin the installation. The surface should be prepared in accordance with standard painting guidlines.
For rapid installation work with:
  1. A plasterers hawk (palette).
  2. A 14",18",or 21" pool trowel.
  3. A water spritzer.
  4. Good floor and baseboard cover.
  5. A product scoop or second trowel

Using the product scoop or second trowel load your hawk with Glitterock and one edge against the surface, trowel the product onto the surface in  tight sweeping strokes open the edge using the spritzer when the joint seems to be getting cold. Complete the surface this way. When the first coat dries install the second coat the same way as the first coat. Go back periodically and water spritz the second coat and draw your trowel tightly across the surface, this will ensure that the Glitterock lays flat. Use a broadknife in upper and lower corners as the pool trowel cannot reach these areas effectively.

                             TINT BASE GLITTEROCK

Drill mix tint into the tint base GLR-300 in appropriate quantities (see tinting formulations for formulated colors). The surface should be prepared in accordance with standard painting guidlines.

For rapid installation work with:

  1. A plasterers hawk (palette).
  2. A 14",18",or 21" pool trowel.
  3. A water spritzer.
  4. Good floor and baseboard cover.
  5. A product scoop or second trowel.
  6. A medium pile roller. (optional)
  7.  A clean paint tray. (optional)
  8.  A 2.5" paint brush. (optional)

TROWEL ONLY INSTALLATION

Using the product scoop or second trowel load your hawk with Glitterock and one edge against the surface, trowel the product onto the surface in  tight sweeping strokes open the edge using the spritzer when the joint seems to be getting cold. Complete the surface this way. When the first coat dries install the second coat the same way as the first coat. Go back periodically and water spritz the second coat and draw your trowel tightly across the surface, this will ensure that the Glitterock lays flat. Use a broadknife in upper and lower corners as the pool trowel cannot reach these areas effectively.

OPTIONAL ROLL ON BASECOAT WITH TROWELLED FINISH COAT

The tint base finish can also be rendered using the ROA-750 Roll on primer. This product contains silica sand and acts as a grip coat for the Glitterock finish coat.

Begin by rolling the entire work surface with the ROA-750 making sure to get an even dispersion of silica sand molecule use a brush to reach inner corners and areas not accessible to the roller. Allow this coat to fully dry. Now install tinted glitterock over the roll coat using the pool trowel and hawk, use a broadknife on inside square corners.Go back periodically and water spritz the second coat and draw your trowel tightly across the surface, this will ensure that the Glitterock lays flat. Use a broadknife in upper and lower corners as the pool trowel cannot reach these areas effectively.

Note * The roll coat can be tinted to same color as the GLR-300 for bleed control  or it can be tinted differently and taped off for stone and block finishes.

There are a variety of installation possibilities with the Glitterock systems, we recommend applicators experiment thoroughly to gain a greater understanding of the flexibility of this coating.
